Children from Sir Henry Fermor CE Primary School, Grove Park School, St John’s CE Primary School, St Mary’s Catholic Primary School and Jarvis Brook School visited Beacon Academy to enjoy the performance and get a taste of the many opportunities available to them through Beacon Academy Performing Arts. Every member of the cast and crew contributed to making the production a great success, and will be celebrated throughout the school and wider community.Īt the evening performances, the audience enjoyed drinks, ice creams and snacks from the “theatre bar” and supported a performance night raffle, with prizes kindly donated by The Diddy Drama Company, Finest Futsal Academy, Zumba Fitness and Waitrose Crowborough.Īhead of the first evening performance, a special matinee show was also staged exclusively for students of a number of local primary schools, many of whom will be making the transition to Beacon Academy in September. Sixth Former, Bethany Campbell delivered the magic and some of the night’s biggest laughs in the role of Genie. The role of the eponymous hero was played by Year 8 student, Jay-Jay Patena, while Head Student in Year 10, Isabelle Street took the role of Jasmine. ![]() Showcasing the talented students’ abilities in Drama, Music, Dance, Set Design and Theatre Production, the show featured well-known musical numbers including A Whole New World, Friend Like Me, Arabian Nights and One Jump Ahead with accompanying choreography and stagecraft which was performed masterfully by the entire cast. Thanks to state of the art lighting, sound and ingenious set design, the newly renovated performance space was transformed by the production’s technical crew, and spectators were transported to the city of Agrabah - a city of “mystery and enchantment” where the classic story about the “diamond in the rough” street rat who learns that his true worth lies deep within could unfold. Students of all year groups – from the youngest in Year 7 to the Sixth Formers in Year 13, had been working together towards the March performance dates since September, and did not disappoint the crowds of friends, relatives and their fellow students eager to enjoy the outcome of their months of dedicated rehearsal and preparation. Beacon Academy students wowed audiences with a range of extraordinary talents both on the stage and behind the scenes in their whole school production of Aladdin JR., a magically updated version of the Academy Award-winning Disney musical and spectacular West End show. ![]()
